Empowering Women: The WOA Legacy

The Women of Outstanding Achievement (WOA) carries the torch lit by the Abilene branch of AAUW, a national champion for women since 1881. Founded in 2023, WOA honors exceptional women through the Women of Outstanding Achievement Award and invests in the future with Women of Promise & Courage Scholarships.

These scholarships support women over 25 returning to school or pursuing degrees in Abilene or online programs. We also welcome applicants from surrounding counties.

A Year of Growth: In 2021, a dedicated group ensured AAUW's legacy lived on. In 2022, the group established a Board of Directors, secured non-profit status, and were ever so grateful for AAUW's guidance. WOA hosted its inaugural luncheon carrying on the traditions established by AAUW in the spring of 2023.

Building the Future: Five years ago, AAUW established an endowment for women's education. We're inspired by the Women of Outstanding Achievement’s impact and the Women of Promise & Courage's determination.
