Denice's dedication to service was profound: 14+ years with Junior League of Abilene, West Texas Food Bank board leadership, & Day Nursery of Abilene board chair, where she led a debt-free capital campaign.
Even after relocating, she served the Midlothian Chamber. Denice was a fierce advocate for women, inspiring them to achieve their dreams. Her unwavering spirit, embodied by her motto "onward and upward," shone brightly even in her courageous battle. A true role model, her legacy of leadership and service continues to inspire.
Abilene celebrates Carla Copher-Robinson, a 2025 Woman of Outstanding Achievement! From PTA leadership to 12 years with Pray for Rex, her service is profound. At Christian Homes & Family Services, she's a beacon of hope, supporting birth mothers, adoptive families, & foster families.
Carla renovates maternity apartments, cooks meals, & weeps/rejoices alongside those facing life-altering decisions. She ensures young moms are cared for, adoptive families thrive, & sacred decisions are handled with grace.
Her selfless dedication, putting others first, makes her an extraordinary role model. Her work, though emotionally taxing, reflects her belief in caring for women, children, & families. Carla's impact is immeasurable, embodying true community spirit.

Her dedication shines through her volunteer work: Safe Haven Baby Box coordinator, Pregnancy Resources of Abilene board member, & Holy Family Catholic Church altar server trainer.
Karen's commitment to shaping lives, from foster care to education, reflects her selfless nature. A pillar of the Wylie community, she's a steadfast supporter of her husband, Wylie ISD Superintendent Joey Light, & a longtime Wylie Education Foundation contributor. Karen’s passion for service & helping others is truly remarkable.
Abilene honors Mindy Patterson, a 2025 Woman of Outstanding Achievement! As Deputy City Manager, with 30+ years of dedicated service, she's a cornerstone of our city. Overseeing Finance, Community Services (Zoo, Animal Services, Convention Center), & HR, her impact is immense. A McMurry graduate, Mindy's leadership extends beyond City Hall, serving on the Community Foundation of Abilene's board.
She's mentored countless women in both city government & banking, fostering growth & empowerment. Recognized for her service, Mindy's influence is undeniable. Second in command at the City, her commitment & vision make her a true standout.
